What is the Miller Analogies Test (MAT)?

The MAT is a high-level mental ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies.

What is MAT used for?

The MAT represents an excellent option for candidates applying to any of the hundreds of graduate programs that accept MAT scores for admission.

How would I know if my graduate program accepts the MAT?

Check with an advisor for that program to determine testing requirements.

When is the MAT given at UAH?

The MAT is offered on Wednesday mornings each month.  We also offer an evening test the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm.

May I re-take the MAT?

Yes, but you must present a retest ticket if retesting within one year.

How do I register for the MAT?

What should I bring with me to the test center?

Candidates must present two forms of valid, unexpired identification. The primary form of ID must contain both your photograph and your signature. No food, drink, cell phones or testing aids are permitted into the examination room.
