Think Outside the Bottle
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (August 26, 2013)- UAH pledges to “Think Outside the Bottle!”
UAH is joining a national campaign to opt for tap water over bottled water. Bottled water is less sustainable and less regulated in many cases than tap water. It costs about 2,000 times more than tap, and uses enough oil during production each year to fuel a million cars. Since most plastic water bottles end up in landfills, UAH is joining 27 other universities in the attempt to cut spending on bottled water.
The first step in this process? To install 9 new hydration stations in academic buildings on campus. Installation is planned for the first week of September. Upon opening, Chargers for Sustainability will be tabling and passing out free reusable water bottles to students encouraging them to think outside the bottle! This fall, students can refill their reusable bottles at hydration stations in any of the following locations:
Shelby Center, Salmon Library, Spragins Hall, Business Administration Building, Morton Hall, Material Science Building, Technology Hall, Engineering Building, Wilson Hall, University Center, Charger Union.
Join us at the following locations to sign your pledge to "Think Outside the Bottle" and receive your free reusable Chargers for Sustainability water bottle!
