Note Takers

Many students with a disability are dependent on volunteers to help accommodate their academic needs. At times we may ask for your help in identifying a volunteer to help with accommodations for a student.

The most common request of this type will be asking for your help in identifying another student in your class who would be willing to share notes with DSS so we can provide them to the student. To identify such a student, we will ask you to make an announcement in your class.

Once you have a volunteer DSS will provide special carbon paper to the student so that he/she can simply pull off the back sheet and hand it to the DSS student.

Whenever we need your help in identifying a note taker, the student will present you with a memo requesting help, along with his/her Letter of Accommodation.

More information about note-taking is available in our note-taking brochure.
