Circle K International UAH Circle K

Circle K Meeting Agenda

Our meeting with Pastor Mike Luna at the Downtown Rescue Mission went very well. We will discuss what we learned there and how you can volunteer to help our local Huntsville homeless at next week's meeting.

Matt Smith from the Volunteer Center tonight:
"Here is a little bit more concise explanation of what I am doing/looking for: The Language Bank takes requests for interpretations and translations from social service organizations and then finds bilingual volunteers to fill their needs. In doing this, we are enabling these organizations to serve Madison County's non-English speaking residents. Hopefully we can work together this fall and forge a relationship between Circle K and The Volunteer Center that will prove mutually beneficial. " ~Matt Smith

Downtown Rescue Mission
Thursday, October 13 is the tentative date for our meeting at the Downtown Rescue Mission.
We will have to have this meeting at 6 pm or 6:30 pm

Attendees: Ashley, Matt, Chris, Tom, Andy, Sayaka, Scott, Gustavo, and Sarah. Today we were talking about starting new events and continuing old ones. We're going to continue hosting bingo at the retirement home. We would like to go there on the Saturday before Valentine's Day. Also we talked a lot about fundraising. We talked about Carabas--sorry i was gone getting soda for most of this part. We also talked about the Animal Shelter Sarah got her dog at. We could help her walk dogs there and help the place out. Also we talked about making crochet hats for homeless and cancer kids--either premade or have an activity with kids to make them. We also talked about a pay-your-way-in LAN party in collaboration with SNAPL. The proceeds would go to the community. We also discussed a lock-in that hopefully can take place at the fitness center. WE could get Quiznos or Dominos or soemthing . Also we discussed Egg coloring and the Easter Egg hunt at the Rescue Mission, though this should be on different days since they aren't used to being around other people for so long. I think that was about it.
