"Bears"
University of California - Berkeley

The University of California - Berkeley is located in Berkeley, California.  They have proudly represented the Mid-Pacific Conference twenty times at the national level (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2015).  Note: We are in the process of establishing their placement in the different competition categories  in 1990.

Only finishing once out of the top ten, their five national wins (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 2009) and eight other top three finishes (1990, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2008, and 2015) give the Bears one of the strongest overall performance records in the competition. The University of California - Berkeley is one of five schools (Cal Poly - SLO, Clemson, UAH, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison the other four) that have won back-to-back national titles. Berkeley is the only school to have accomplished this feat twice.  The Bears also hold the record for the most top five wins at fifteen and they have nineteen top ten wins to their credit.

The team's National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC) performance record stands as follows:

  • Best Overall (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 2009)
