"Bears"
University of California - Berkeley

The University of California - Berkeley is located in Berkeley, California.  They have proudly represented the Mid-Pacific Conference fifteen times at the national level (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2006).  Note: We are in the process of establishing their placement in the different competition categories  in 1990.

Only finishing once out of the top ten, their four national wins (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992) and six other top three finishes (1990, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, and 2003) give the Bears one of the strongest overall performance records in the competition.  The University of California - Berkeley is one of four schools (UAH, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Clemson are the other three) that have won back-to-back national titles.  Berkeley is the only school to have accomplished this feat twice.  Along with Clemson, the Bears hold the record for the most top five wins at twelve and they have fourteen top ten wins to their credit.  Berkeley also holds the all time record for national appearances at fifteen.

The team's National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC) performance record stands as follows:

  • Best Overall (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992)

  • Most Design Points (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992)
