"
Southeast Regional Concrete Canoe Competition - March 15-17, 2001"

Auburn University did an excellent job hosting the Southeast Regional Competition and the race site was very good.  The lake was well sheltered and there was plenty of space to set up camp and launch the canoes.

Overall, the competition was very intense.  The University of Florida finished second with the Florida Institute of Technology close behind.  Florida State/Florida A&M finished fourth followed by the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez.

We scored big points in the technical events at the regional competition.  The judges were very impressed by our first place presentation

and, along with our first place design report, the technology underlying our final product left a lasting impression.

Our first place display was power packed with information about the project.  We think that it helped the judges understand the risks that we had taken and conveyed just how far we were able to push the design envelope while completing what our faculty advisors tell us is one of the chapter's best efforts to date.
