Presentation:

The University of Wisconsin - Platteville represented the Mid-West Conference and made their fourth consecutive national appearance.

UW-Platteville relied on 5 men to make their presentation; 2 men and 1 woman.  The presenters were dressed business casual.  The team used 1 screen and included 1 video segment.

After giving a brief introduction, the team outlined their presentation.  The first topic addressed was management.  They elaborated on their schedule and explained that all milestones were met.  Then it was on to structural analysis.

The team quantified the concrete strengths required and explained how they achieved the desired characteristicsThen they described the constituents and specified the properties.

Mold and cane construction came next.  The team described how they used shot-crete to place the bat and elaborated on the method used to construct inlays.

They mentioned that a practice cane was built and elaborated on the innovations incorporated into the effort.  The team ended their presentation by elaborating on their canoe’s salient features.

  • How were they incorporated into the mix?

  • Do they provide an increase in strength?

  • How did the pellets disperse?

  • Did you test different application procedures?

  • How did you meet all of the deadlines stipulated on your project schedule?

  • What type of cracking do you expect as a result of tensile failure?

  • Did you determine flexural strength?

  • You mentioned that metakolin is a recycled material in your design report.  Is it?
