Presentation:

The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown represented the Mid-Atlantic  Conference and made their second national appearance.

The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown relied on 6 people to make their presentation; 3 men and 3 women.  The presenters were dressed in formal attire.  The team used 1 screen and did not include any videos.

After a brief introduction the team clearly outlined their goals.  They outlined their project management and described the tasks associated with key positions.

Mix design came next.  They explained how they used last year’s mix as a baseline along with the steps taken to meet the recyclable requirement.  After giving the mix properties, it was on to mold construction.

After describing how they manufactured their male mold, the team explained how they constructed and cured their canoe.

Then the team described the innovative features of their project and discussed the sustainability issues associated with the project.

After thanking their fellow team members, they brought their presentation to conclusion.

  • What was you rationale for selecting your reinforcing materials?

  • What was the slump of the final mix?

  • How was the unit weight of your concrete chosen?

  • How did you get consistency considering that you hand mixed your concrete?

  • Did you perform tests to see how the amount of recycled brick affects the concrete tensile strength?
