Presentation:

The California State Polytechnic University Pomona represented the Pacific Southwest Conference and made their fourth national appearance.

Cal Poly – Pomona relied on 2 men to make their presentation.  The presenters were dressed in formal attire.  The team used 1 screen and did not include any videos.

After giving a brief introduction, the team outlined their presentation.  They stated their objectives, then focused on project management.  They specified the man hours associated with the project, described the challenges that they faced, and mentioned that fund raising was a major concern.

Then it was on to structural analysis.  The team described their modeling approach and specified the design criteria that needed to be met.

Mix design came next.  The team outlined their goals in that regard and quantitatively described how well they were achieved. 

The team explained why they used a female mold to construct their boat and outlined the construction process.  They explained how they discovered a novel sealing technique.

After summarizing the effort, the team brought their presentation to conclusion

  • How do you make the joints between the layers sound during construction?

  • Can you describe your recruitment effort?

  • How many upper classmen did you have?

  • How did you set up your management and track your progress?

  • You used a relatively high dose rate for you admixture.  Why was the rate specified by the manufacturer so low?
