The Ecole de Technologie Superieure in Quebec, Canada successfully defended their conference title in Upstate New York and made their third national appearance (statistics). As the host of the 2008 NCCC, they defrayed their trump card and participate in 2009.

The canoe's name was selected based on a common expression amongst coal miners... Definition: "Black Angel" - The marvelous vision that entrapped miners experience when the rescuers breakthrough, covered in coal dust, with the sunlight bright behind them. -----------------------------------------------------------
