An upset in the Metropolitan Conference... where City College won over the defending conference champions from Polytechnic University. CCNY will make their seventh national appearance in 2007 (statistics).

An upset in Upstate New York... where a team from the Ecole de Technologie Superieure in Quebec, Canada won against the defending conference champion from Clarkson University. ETS will make their second national appearance (statistics).

Fairmont State successfully defended their Virginias Conference title. They will make their fourth consecutive national appearance (statistics). "The Fighting Falcon" incorporates an Intelli-Rock system, allowing the team to obtain immediate and long term strength and humidity correlations via encased sensors.
The boat's concrete outlays were designed to simulate the F-16 Thunderbird design. The concrete inlays represent the school's mascot... uniting the team’s theme ("Top Gun") and boat’s identity. -----------------------------------------------------------
The Gators swept the concrete canoe races in the Southeast to edge out Florida Tech and defending conference champion... Team UAH.. Florida will make its fifth national appearance (statistics).

The University of Illinois at Urbana (concrete canoeing originated there in 1971 when the Boneyard Yacht Club field "Mis-Led") finished second in the Great Lakes... but since the winner finished in the top five last year...Urbana will compete at nationals for the sixth time (statistics).

The University of Maine successfully defended their conference title in New England and will be making their fourth national appearance (statistics).
----------------------------------------------------------- Michigan Tech scored a perfect 100 in the North Central Conference and will make their ninth national appearance (statistics).

Mississippi State will be one of two teams (Pittsburg-Johnstown is the other team) making their debut in Seattle bringing the number of schools to qualify over 20 years to 107. Way to go guys... welcome to the major league!

An upset in the Mid-Pacific... where University of Nevada, Reno won over the defending conference champions from UC-Berkeley. Reno will make their second consecutive national appearance in 2007 (statistics).
----------------------------------------------------------- New Mexico State An upset in the Rocky Mountain Conference... where the "Aggies" from New Mexico State won over the defending conference champions from South Dakota Tech. State will make their sixth national appearance (statistics).

North Carolina State broke the longest consecutive winning streak in NCCC history (14 straight conference titles by Clemson's 3CT) by winning in the Carolinas. NC State will be making their ninth national appearance (statistics).

Ohio Northern finished second in the North Central Conference... but since the winner finished in the top five last year... Northern will compete at nationals for the second year in a row (statistics).

The University of Oklahoma successfully defended their Mid-Continent Conference title. They will make their sixth national appearance in 2007 (statistics). Oklahoma will be introducing shrinkage compensated concrete to the competition this year.
Since the concrete has a final shrinkage of only 20 micro-strain, shrinkage cracking is virtually eliminated. -----------------------------------------------------------
The University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown won the Mid-Atlantic Conference. The University of Washington will compete as this year's national host school.
Civil engineering students from across the country will paddle into Seattle, June 14-16, for ASCE's 20th Annual National Concrete Canoe Competition, where they will make the impossible a reality: design, build and race canoes made of concrete. ASCE members, family and friends are invited to watch the races and then see first hand how students manage these amazing feats during the Concrete Carnival Family Festival. Feel the heat as concrete is formed when you make and decorate concrete objects, mix and eat a "concrete" cookie, visit the Concrete Petting Zoo for clues to how concrete canoes float, then enjoy the lakeside view as you cheer on your favorite team. Events are free to the public, but VIP tickets are available for special events planned for Concrete Canoe alumni. The "Badgers" will be making their thirteenth national appearance this year... vying for their fifth consecutive national title (statistics).

The University of Wisconsin - Platteville successfully defended their Mid-West Conference title. They will make their third consecutive national appearance in 2007 (statistics).
