"Villanova University"
(22nd place overall; 20th in paper; 21st in presentation; 14th in product)

Presentation:

Villanova relied on a patriotic theme to promote “Glory.”  Two male and one female team member gave the presentation.

The team was dressed in formal attire and began by outlining their goals.  Hull design and analysis came next.  Then it was on to mix design, construction, and management.

The judges began by asking why did you make so many assumptions during your analysis and what were they?

The judges asked questions about what “lower” meant, i.e., relative to what.  How did you determine the specific weight of your concrete mix?  How much funding did you generate during your fund raising campaign?  How did you decide how much rocker to place in the boat?

Since it was not included in your report, could you elaborate on you critical path?  There seem to be some discrepancies in the units reported in the report.  Could you explain them?  For conventional concrete, what do you think that the ratio of tensile to compressive strength should be?  What is the abbreviation for kips?
