"University
of Oklahoma" Presentation:
The team began by outlining their presentation. Hull design was covered and the design stresses outlined. Mix design came next. Shotcrete and sheetcrete methods were investigated and it was decided to concentrate on the former to build the canoe. The judges began by asking the team to tell them about the special projects class offered at their university. How was the weight of the boat determined? How would you have done a paper and pen study of your stresses? Why is a finite element analysis more accurate than the hand calculation? Why was the paddler weight kept constant at 190 lb during your analysis? Is the form inherited or new? Who wrote the newsletter and how is it distributed? How did you select the height of the canoe especially at the bow? Why did you select white cement? Can you elaborate on the modifications that you made from the ASTM standard? How did you establish the target weight for the canoe? Product:
