"Texas
A&M University" Presentation:
The team covered hull design, mix design, SF (2.0), mold construction, canoe construction, schedule and critical path. They related the tasks to the team leaders. The judges began by asking what does “simple” mean? What does “scrim” mean? The team was asked why they were surprised that plates failed differently during their testing program. The judges pointed out that cracking was a problem and asked how steps were taken to minimize this? How did you proceed during your analysis of the load? How was the target factor of safety of 4.0 determined? Why does your reinforcement need to be alkaline resistant? What are the strengths of your team? Why was white Portland cement chosen to construct your canoe? Did you take into account stress concentrations during your analysis? Were transport stresses taken into account? How was your canoe transported to the competition? The team enunciated nicely and overall this was a very strong presentation. Product:
