Presentation:

NMSU described the steps taken to construct their phenomenon and focused on an extraterrestrial theme.  They staged their presentation in “Concretta.”  Three female and two male team members gave the presentation.  The male members were from the US while the female members were from Concretta.  Another member dressed like Darth Vader gave the final remarks.

 The judges began by asking whose idea was it not to add Appendix C to the report?  Why was Class C fly ash chosen for the mix?

The team was questioned on the yield strength specified for their fiberglass reinforcement?  The judges asked the team to define their design goals.  What was the most unexpected challenge encountered during the project and how did you handle that?

What was the dynamic load and was it integrated into the design?  A paper mache approach was mention.  Can you elaborate on that?  What is the one thing that you would do differently next year?  Are there any other load combinations that you would take into account during your analysis?  Do you think that it is feasible to include an impact factor into your design specifications?  Who chose that alien theme?
