Presentation:

Drexel was the lat team on stage and four men and two women gave their presentation.  After giving a team introduction the team proceeded to explain how they began their effort by organizing their team.

They elaborated on their hull design and commented on the steps used to perform their structural design.  The composite design parameters were given along with the material properties required.  Then the team explained how they designed their mix and constructed their boat.

The judges began by saying the you modeled the boat as a beam on an elastic foundation.  How did you measure the spring constant during this formulation?  How was the target value for the specific weight determined?  What were the modifications made to the hull and why did you make them?  Did these modifications solve the problems that you said that you encountered?  

How did you overcome problems related to raising funds?  Did you expect to get equivalent stresses from the compression tests performed on cylinders and cubes?  On the geo-member linings, how did you make the edges match?  Exactly what is a whale’s tale and where is it located on the hull?
