Washington State University, located in Pullman, Washington, represented the Pacific Northwest Region.  This year marked their tenth appearance at nationals.  They have three top ten wins to their credit.  Their highest finish to date was fourth in 1989.

Canoe/Materials/Facts:

The lnviscid Extreme was made from lightweight concrete that included Type III Portland Cement, glass beads, Microlite T, and polyester mesh reinforcement just to name a few ingredients.  This canoe's uniqueness came from its extremely lightweight concrete at 38 lb/ft³.  In laymen's terms, this means that a volume of this concrete will weigh approx 0.6 times the same volume of water.  The hull design also incorporated a non-symmetrical shape that was similar to that of a racing canoe with the widest section moved back 60 percent from the bow.
