The University of Texas at San Antonio, located in San Antonio, Texas, was the representative from the Texas-Mexico Region.  This was the team's fifth consecutive appearance at nationals.  Their highest finish to date was sixteenth in 1999.

This year the team went with an entirely symmetrical design reducing the amount of labor involved in construction.  They also began applying their concrete by spraying it onto the mold.
