 Vital Stats:

Drexel University, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was the representative from the Pennsylvania-Delaware Region.  They were one of the fifteen schools to compete in the first National Concrete Canoe Competition held in 1988.  This year marked their fifth appearance (1988, 1998-2001) at the national level.  It was the team's fourth consecutive appearance and they have three top ten finishes [2001 (7th), 1999 (8th), 1988 (6th)] to their credit.  Their highest finish to date was sixth in 1988.

Canoe/Materials/Facts:

The team from Drexel incorporated a proven hull design with significant innovative features including a narrow beam, "whale tail," and increased bow depth under water.  The concrete was modified from last year and the composite included four layers of fiberglass mesh, as well as, 0.25" fiberglass bars in the gunwale and thwarts.
