Tutor Job Description

  1. Tutors are to provide free tutorial services for students at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
  2. Qualified tutors must have made at least a 3.0 in the subject being tutored and maintain an overall UAH GPA of 2.5 or better.
  3. Tutors are re-evaluated each semester for re-hire.
  4. Tutors must have at least two reference letters from professors that can validate their mastery of course material.
  5. Tutor must maintain confidentiality when dealing with tutees' issues.
  6. Tutors are expected to notify the program coordinator of any unusual circumstances, behavior, or events that may occur during tutoring sessions.

Specific duties and responsibilities are:

  1. To provide academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually.
  2. To assist students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas.
  3. To assist students in double checking for errors and solving problems.
  4. To assist students in developing study skills necessary for academic success.
