Our Mission

The mission of the Office of Admissions is to inform, recruit, admit, and serve a qualified, diverse undergraduate student population regionally, nationally, and internationally. It embraces the University’s commitment to attain the quality of students who are able to matriculate and graduate. The Office of Admissions also maintains the integrity of the admissions process; thus ensuring efficient and systematic evaluation of credentials. Through multiple recruitment strategies, the Office of Admissions works to ensure that eligible students have access to higher education.

Vision Statement

The Office of Admissions strives to make the quality of service at UAHuntsville a model of excellence by effectively providing information to all internal and external constituents; by providing student-centered service in all contacts with prospective students and their families; and by working closely with high schools, community colleges, and other four-year institutions so that UAHuntsville is recognized as an outstanding destination institution wherein to acquire a quality education.
Guiding Principles of Recruitment

It is impossible to capture every action that takes place in order for recruitment goals to be accomplished and many actions will be employed in supporting more than one goal. Therefore, understanding the principles that serve as the foundation for any effective recruiting action is as important as understanding the actions that take place in support of recruiting goals.

For the Office of Admissions at the University of Alabama in Huntsville the following guiding principles provide the framework for the recruiting plan and the ongoing development and re-engineering of the recruitment plan.

  • People are the only sustainable competitive advantage that exists. A team with individuals who are passionate about what they do, have a good work ethic, and make good decisions is what leads to success.
  • Do the basics better than anyone else.
  • Make data based decisions where possible.
Multiple channels of communication are the most effective, but they need to be personalized, strategic, and intentionally managed
  • Response time matters.
  • Technology is vital to managing interactions of constituents, in supporting relationships, and in providing information on progress toward goals.
  • Campus-wide understanding that every interaction with a student, or a student gatekeeper, is critical in that decisions are influenced by relationships.

The Office of Admissions is committed to the following Strategic Goals:
