Research Interests

  • Heliospheric space plasma physics: the transport, cooling and acceleration of energetic charged particles such as solar energetic particles, pickup ions, anomalous cosmic rays and galactic cosmic rays in the collisionless solar wind plasma.

  • Theoretical plasma physics: Quasi-linear, and nonlinear kinetic theory of energetic charged particle transport and stochastic acceleration in turbulent low frequency electromagnetic fields, kinetic theory of energetic charged particle acceleration at collisionless shocks, magnetohydrodynamic theory of large-scale plasma flow, magnetohydrodynamic turbulence and weak turbulence theory.

  • Computational plasma physics: Test particle and self-consistent finite difference simulations of energetic charged particle transport and acceleration in the solar wind plasma.
