Abstract

In this talk we discuss the design of static boundary feedback control laws for PDEs arising in engineering applications. These control laws are used either to achieve global stability or to enhance instability (mixing) in problems related to fluid flows. The important question of well posedness of the resulting dynamical systems is explained along with questions of effectiveness and possible implementations of the control laws.

The complexity and practical importance of flow control problems makes computer simulations absolute necessities. We present numerical simulations that demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed feedback laws even in cases where the theoretical results are limited.
