Abstract

Do you remember the first time you became involved in a mathematical investigation? It was exciting, challenging and fun. Calculus students may have never before been exposed to this side of mathematics. For them, mathematics seems to be a bunch of rules in a book with no room for student activity or creativity. We will discuss some projects which combine student involvement, technology, history, and oral and written communication in a way which introduces students to the aspects of mathematics which captivate all of us.
