FEW Workshop

The National Science Foundation has funded a series of workshops in 2015 to evaluate the multifaceted interactions among food, energy, and water (FEW) systems and their relationship to a sustainable secure US Food Production system. UAH led one of these workshops on the potential migration of agriculture as one path to a more geographically sustainable US food production system.

The UAH led workshop was held in late October in Boulder, CO at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The workshop included 46 participants plus graduate students from academia, governmental agencies, industry and non-profits. The participants included broad disciplinary expertise in agriculture, energy, climate water resources, economics, ecology, water law policy and other areas. The workshop outputs provided to NSF include an Executive Summary, Workshop Report and white paper.
