The Office of Pre-Health Professions Advising mission is to facilitate students of all majors, alumni, and post-baccalaureate of The University of Alabama in Huntsville with their individual process of pursuing a career in the health related professions by providing support, guidance, and resources.

The Office of Pre-Health Professions Advising values developing meaningful relationships, a sense of community, personal growth and development, a sense of support and challenge, and overall wellness.

The Office of Pre-Health Professions Advising promotes learning through community service, academic excellence, leadership, teamwork, cultural competence, ethical responsibility, maturity, reliability, adaptability, awareness of oneself, others, and one’s profession, and a capacity for improvement in all students.

If an individual is just starting to consider a health career or is already submitting their application to a health program, the UAH Coordinator of Pre-Health Professions assists individuals with planning, procedures, and information.

The Office of Pre-Health Professions Advising assists in the following fields:

Medicine, nursing advanced practice, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, optometry, physician assistant, veterinary medicine, and all areas in between, like graduate school in public health or other master's or PhD programs.

Pre-Health is in addition to a degree at UAH. Individuals gain the benefit of an Academic Advisor, to confirm they are on track to graduate, and a Pre-Health Advisor, to ensure they are building a competitive application and meeting professional goals.

The Pre-Health Professions Advising Office provides information on various health careers, shadowing options, internships, personal statement help, interviewing skills techniques, research opportunities, summer programs, and post-bacc and graduate programs in various medical or health related fields.
