the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

We are committed to providing an excellent research and academic experience with opportunities for professional development and leadership. CoS students are positioning themselves for successful careers through our vibrant degree programs and leading-edge research labs. We produce scientists who are competitive in the global workforce by mentoring them both in the skills and knowledge of their disciplines and in the ability to communicate effectively. Our students have

  • traveled to Germany, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and Panama as part of study and research abroad programs;

  • won numerous national awards including the NASA Earth and Space Fellowship and the NASA Hands-On Project Experience (HOPE);

  • earned competitive internships with the  HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, Alabama Power, NASA Develop, and leading computer science and aerospace companies;

  • conducted exciting and productive research projects through many Research Experience for Undergraduate programs.

We are proud of our students, who work hard both inside and outside the classroom.  They are the true ambassadors of our program, as they reflect the values and mission of the CoS. Our students continue to impress the UAH faculty and staff by serving the campus and local community on their own initiative. From organizing community events like Rocket City Weatherfest and ChargerCon, to organizing research and humanitarian trips abroad, to competing and winning in an international modeling and simulation event, our students excel.

Our faculty work hard to bring pioneering research material to the classroom. The CoS has a program ranked in the top ten in the country, and our faculty members have won prestigious honors and awards including AGU and AMS Fellow honors, NASA Young Investigator Awards, NSF Career Award, Distinguished Research and Teaching awards, and NASA Distinguished Public Service Medals.

We are very proud of our alumni who continue to lead their fields in many disciplines.

The CoS provides a unique environment where students excel in classroom settings that promote active learning through interactions and discussions. Furthermore, UAH is immersed in the nation’s second largest research park, allowing for trailblazing collaborative efforts with the numerous high-tech companies and research centers nearby.

Again, welcome to the UAH College of Science, and do stay in touch!
