 Dr. Thomas J. WilliamsAssociate ProfessorOffice: Morton Hall 250-E email:williatj@uah.edu Phone: (256) 824-2314 Dr. Thomas Williams teaches American Government, State and Local Government, Urban Politics, American Federalism, Public Administration and Public Personnel Administration and he serves as the director of the department’s internship program. He has taught several different courses at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (1980-2007, Southwest Texas State University (1975-1980), and Georgia Southwestern University (1968-1975). Dr. Williams received his PhD in political science from the University of Georgia. He has a BS Ed (History, 1964) and a Med (Political Science, 1965) from the same university. Dr. Williams attended the Survey Research Center at the University of Michigan. Prior to coming to the University of Alabama in Huntsville as Chair in 1980, Dr. Williams taught at Georgia Southwestern University and served as the Director of the Program and at Southwest Texas State University where he served as the Director of the department’s intern program and MPA program. While Dr. Williams was Chair, the department developed an internship program, a graduate program (The Master of Arts in Public Affairs and the Nu Delta Chapter of Pi Sigma Aloha, and The National Honorary Society in Political Science). Dr. Williams has served as Vice-President and President if the North Alabama Chapter of The American Society for Public Administration; Vice-President and President of the Alabama Political Science Association; and, President of the UAH Faculty Senate. Dr. Williams has publications on citizen’s attitudes toward local government policies, children’s attitudes toward politics, management of public administration programs, and internship program management and evaluation.
