Dr. Roy Meek is a professor emeritus in the Political Science Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He teaches a variety of courses that include the following: American Constitutional Law, American Government and Politics, Civil Liberties and Civil Rights, Minorities and the Law, Sex-Based Discrimination and the Law, Politics and Natural Resources, Environmental Politics, Research Methods, Budgeting and Budgetary Processes, and The Judiciary and Public Policy. Per his educational background, Dr. Meek earned his PhD in Political Science from the University of Oregon, and his M.A. and B.A., both with a major in Government and a minor in Economics, from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Meek has served as a professor with the University of Alabama in Huntsville since 1981 and has held many distinguished positions, to include Department Chair and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. He is also the Graduate Advisor for the Public Affairs program offered through the Political Science Department. Before coming to the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Dr. Meek was an Associate Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Colorado State University. Dr. Meek has maintained an extensive and dedicated career as a teacher since 1958; the educational institutions include: the University of Oklahoma, Texas Tech University, Colorado State University, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Before entering the field of teaching, Dr. Meek served 4 years in the United States Navy.
