Traffic Enforcement Plan

We have people out and about on campus - walking, jogging and riding bikes. As always, our traffic enforcement will be focused on keeping the campus a safe place through education and enforcement. We will be talking safe walking, running and driving.

Pedestrians frequently jaywalk at the Holmes Ave. crosswalk north of Charger Union. This crosswalk has a traffic control device that stops traffic when triggered by pedestrians. Pedestrians at this crosswalk shall obey the instructions of the traffic control device and not cross the street until instructed to do so. To address this, you will see signs and/or officers at this crosswalk educating pedestrians. Speed detection trailers will frequently be placed at this location to inform drivers that the speed limit on Holmes Avenue is 35 mph.

Our officers have also noticed an increase in speeding on campus.  While speeding is sometimes only a few miles per hour above the limit, it is still dangerous to pedestrians and cyclists. To address this trend, you will see our speed detection trailers out at various locations on campus. The trailers will be supplemented by our officers making traffic stops and citing those that do not heed the warning devices and posted speed limit. Remember, the campus speed limit is 25 mph Drive safely!
