The GRE Subject Tests are achievement tests that measure your knowledge of a particular field of study.  Show what you know about a specific subject and graduate schools will take notice. The Subject Tests can help you stand out from other applicants by emphasizing your knowledge and skill level in a specific area.

  • The GRE is a paper and pencil exam.
  • Each Subject Test is intended for students who have an undergraduate major or extensive background in one of these seven disciplines:
Test Dates and Registration
  • Registration is available on the GRE website. Check during online registration for The University of Alabama in Huntsville availability.
  • Exams are given on Saturdays.
  • The University of Alabama in Huntsville offers the following exam dates:
    • September 17, 2016
    • April 8, 2017

Test Day Information

  • Bring your confirmation email or approval letter printed with the correct test location, date, and time.
  • Bring approved identification. Please see acceptable forms of identification on the GRE website.
  • Bring several number 2 pencils. Mechanical pencils and pens are not allowed.
  • Exam length is approximately 3 hours.
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled exam time.
