Design and Architecture

Learn how architecture and interior design are interwoven and how architectural detailing makes a building unique. You will explore residential and commercial architecural styles and types including historical and contemporary design. Through lectures and in-class discussions, students are introduced to design history and theory, and to designing kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, and more. Issures such as accessibility, plumbing, and lighting will be explored. Other areas of instruction include basics of construction, materials and finishes, universal design, sustainability, and building systems.
