 Now Available:  American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is an American Heart Association (AHA) Certification that is required for all UAH Nursing students, recommended for healthcare professionals and lay personnel and is recognized by most hospitals. It is intended to provide healthcare professionals the ability to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and relieve choking, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

Now offering the NEW AHA Guidelines for CPR
and Emergency Cardiovascular Care(ECC).

  • Ensuring chest compression of adequate rate
  • Ensuring chest compressions of adequate depth
  • Allowing full chest recoil between compressions
  • Minimizing interruption in chest compressions
  • Avoiding excessive ventilation
