Defense Security Assistance and Foreign Military Sales Overview
Security assistance has been part of our nation's history since the Revolutionary War. According to the Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management's (DISAM) "The Green Book", 12 major programs fall under our nation's security assistance umbrella. With over $35 Billion in foreign military sales (FMS) in FY 2011, clearly FMS serves as an important security assistance policy tool. This course examines the historical and policy-driven aspects of the Defense Department's Security Assistance Program.
