Fundamental Concepts in Radar Systems

The basic principles and concepts of modern radar systems, radar measurements, radar signatures, and radar functions are introduced in a comprehensive and self-contained manner by illustrating what happens during "one day in the life of a pulse." Basic concepts explored will lead to a simple, intuitive derivation of the Radar Equation. These are followed by the basic concepts of radar signal processing, target detection, radar measurements, and radar signatures. The processing and utilization of these measurements and signatures are used to introduce the concepts of radar search, track, and discrimination. Missile and Air Defense radar missions illustrate concepts.
