Computer Compatibility

The wireless network is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP (Home and Pro), Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Apple Macintosh OS X operating systems. Linux is not officially supported at this time, though many Linux users report being able to access the wireless network. OIT cannot guarantee the same results for all Linux users.

Antivirus software is mandatory for all computers connected to the wireless network. Users who do not already have antivirus software installed on their computers can obtain a free copy of McAfee antivirus software from the OIT Help Desk.

The current version of the McAfee anti-virus software is available for immediate download by currently registered students and UAH-owned PC users only. To download the software, you must use a computer that is connected to the network through an on-campus network access point, i.e., ResNet or the campus wired/wireless networks.
