The UAH Residential Network (ResNet) is a wired Internet connection that the University provides to all campus residents. top
Any modern computer with an Ethernet jack and a web browser should be able to connect to ResNet. Wireless network access is also available in all campus housing areas. top
Does the university have any special agreements with any of the computer manufacturers or software companies to offer "special deals" for UAH students?

The UAH Bookstore also sells computer hardware and software at education discounted prices, but you will need to contact the bookstore directly for more information. The UAH Bookstore may be reached at (256) 824-6600 or through their website. top
Yes, you will need to complete a quick, simple, automated registration process the first time you connect to Resnet or the campus wireless network. As long as you know your Charger ID and password, this step should only take a minute. top
The university's bandwidth is allocated dynamically to serve the needs of the entire university community. If your ResNet connection does not provide suitable bandwidth to meet your academic needs, please contact the OIT Help Desk so that the issue may be investigated. top
The OIT Help Desk will gladly help you configure your computer to access ResNet or the campus wireless network, provide antivirus software, and offer advice on how to keep you and your computer safe online. In addition, the Help Desk will always do their best to provide support for general hardware/software problems. top
The UAH Office of Information Technology provides McAfee VirusScan Enterprise free of charge to all students, faculty, and staff. Please contact the OIT Help Desk for further information. UAH also provies all students with a free Google Apps account, which includes email, calendar, and functionality for creating and editing text documents, spreadsheets, presentations, ans websites. You can access your Google Apps account from any Internet-connected computer at http://google.uah.edu.
The UAH Bookstore and many other software retailers offer appication software at an academic discount price. These retailers may request your student ID and/or class schedule; so keep them handy when you are shopping. top
IP phone applications are not prohibited, but the OIT Help Desk cannot help you configure or troubleshoot them. top
No. Peer-to-peer file-sharing applications are prohibited across the entire campus network. Repeat offenders will be disconnected without further notice. top
Can I use the campus wireless network while I am in another campus facility and my ResNet connection when I am in my residence hall?
Yes, you can access both ResNet and the wireless network with the same computer. All you'll have to do is complete the registration process described above. top

Yes, you can access both ResNet and the wireless network with the same computer. In order to do this, you will need to configure your computer to use the campus wireless network in addition to registering it for use with your ResNet connection. top
No. Wireless access points and routers are strictly prohibited on the entire campus network. Users found in violation of this policy may be disconnected without notice and referred to the student judicial committee. top
Gaming devices are not prohibited on ResNet or the campus wireless network, but the OIT Help Desk can only offer very limited assistance in configuring them. top
Absolutely. There are no restrictions on online gaming. Be sure to check out UAH Student-Run e-Sports on Facebook to connect with fellow gaming enthusiasts on campus. SRES hosts many game nights throught the school year, as well as the annual ChargerCon LAN party event. top
