The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is currently implementing two important improvements:
  • A new way for users to connect to the wireless network (Wi-Fi)... via eduroam
  • Password expiration for heightened security

The eduroam network, which is already available across campus, is replacing the Faculty5, Student5, and Staff5 wireless networks. The eduroam network provides improved performance and is simple to access for all users. Visit eduroam.uah.edu and log into the site with your Charger ID and password to get started. The connection instructions are presented there, as well as a password change option, if necessary.

All Charger passwords will begin expiring after 180 days due to the interim policy for Network, Computer, and E-mail Account Administration which states that “Passwords/passphrases shall expire every 180 days or less” (available on the UAH Policies and Procedures website). As an attempt to reduce the impact of this change, Wendy Worlund will contact smaller groups of users each week for the next few months. When you receive your notice from oit@uah.edu, please heed it; each user will have two weeks to reset his or her Charger/email password after the notice is sent from OIT. You can change your password at oitportal.uah.edu. Once it expires, you must reset it at reset.uah.edu or by contacting the OIT Help Desk. The OIT Help Desk is available for assistance. You may call us 24/7 at 256-824-3333 or email us during business hours at helpdesk@uah.edu. Help is available in person at the Salmon Library from 8 to 6 Monday through Thursday and from 8 to 5 on Friday.
