UAH students win RAM VI scholarships

RAMVI

Students from the Reliability and Failure Analysis Laboratory (RFAL) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) won awards for the best graduate and undergraduate presentations at the Huntsville chapter of the Society of Reliability Engineers (SRE) annual Reliability and Maintainability VI (RAM VI) workshop.

In his talk, graduate student Greg Doud reviewed on-going testing with RFAL's shaker table. Later, undergraduate Hunter Bray informed the group of the lab's new cellulose-based carbon fiber research. Both students received scholarship checks for $750.

Other winners included undergraduate students Dustin Love and Nick Fyfe and graduate students Andrew Zollar, Charles Boyles and Dan Sillivant. Each received checks for $400.

Overall, RFAL student awards at the event totaled $3,500.

The two-day workshop provided UAH students an opportunity to be introduced to a diverse network of professionals in the field of reliability and maintainability. Attendees at the workshop spanned all manufacturing disciplines, including Roush Racing, SKF Bearings, and the aerospace sector in both atmospheric and space flight.

RFAL lab personnel also conducted tutorials at RAM VI on Reliability-centered Maintenance and Probabilistic Methods using Bayesian techniques.
