This holiday season, The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) will host its first-ever Day of Giving, a 24-hour online fundraising initiative that invites friends, family, and alumni to make a one-time gift in support of the university. The event will kick off at 12:01 a.m. the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 2, and close that evening at 11:59 p.m.

"As a university that embraces technology, we really wanted to launch a new and creative way for people to get excited about giving to UAH," says Jennifer Brost, Director of Annual Giving & Research. "We think the UAH Day of Giving is the way to do that, and we encourage everyone to take part, from current students to alumni to the greater Huntsville/Madison County community!"

Funds raised throughout UAH's Day of Giving are tax deductible, but must be made online during the designated 24-hour period to count toward the day's total. To help spread the word, donors are also encouraged to share news of their participation on social media using #UAHDayofGiving.

"Given the expansive reach of social media, we believe word-of-mouth is what will make this one-day giving campaign a true success," says Brost. "Not only do we hope to raise important funds that will support education, but we also really want to get social media talking about UAH for one very important day."

As with gifts given throughout the year, those made during the Day of Giving will go to support student scholarships, student research collaborations with faculty, campus speakers, student stipends for study-abroad opportunities, and athletics. "We are always appreciative of the support we receive year-round," says Brost, "but we also hope our family, friends, and community members take this opportunity to participate in the UAH Day of Giving."
