The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) will host The Alabama Women's Caucus for Art Exhibition: "Precarious: The Dangerous Practice of Uncertainty," Aug. 22 through Sept. 19, in the Union Grove Gallery.

The art show is co-sponsored by the Department of Art, Art History, and Design, and the UAH Women's and Gender Studies Program. UAH faculty and alumni assisting and contributing artworks for the exhibit include K. Jill Johnson (Associate Professor); Kathleen Baldwin (Assistant Professor), Roxie Veasey (Lecturer); Kimberly R. Hart ('05 BA Arts and Humanities); and Tabatha Jarmulowicz ('11 BA Arts and Humanities). The Union Grove Gallery is located on the university's campus, adjacent to Morton Hall. Gallery hours for Saturdays are from noon to 4 p.m.

"The newly formed Alabama chapter of the Women's Caucus for Art has been a great place for connecting with other artists from the area. The show includes a wide variety of media, conceptual approaches and subject matter — it's been very exciting to see it come together," said K. Jill Johnson, Associate Professor of Art, Art History and Design. "The response from people attending the opening was great and we all look forward to the rest of the events which include artist talks, an open mike poetry reading and an all ages day where people can participate in an interactive art project."

Special Events planned for the exhibit include:

  • Student Reception on Thursday, Aug. 27 | 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Daytime Artist Talk, Tuesday, Sept. 1 | 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. by artist Katie Baldwin and Teri Hartmann
  • All Ages Day, Saturday September 5 | noon to 4 p.m. Come be part of a Dada Intervention with multi media artist Tabatha Jarmulowicz. Create your very own Inspiration Bomb! All materials will be provided.
