HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (August 2, 2013) - The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is about to get a little greener!
In just a few weeks, students will find 50 new ChargerCycles at 9 accessible racks across campus. A joint initiative from the Student Government Association (SGA), the Green Club, UAH Housing, and UAH Facilities, this effort toward sustainability will help alleviate some of UAH's transport and parking issues AND create a safer, healthier and more environmentally friendly campus.
ChargerCycles will work on the honor system and be freely available for use by any UAH student, faculty, or staff. However, while the use of helmets on campus is highly encouraged, helmets will not be provided due to the difficulty of properly fitting each rider. Instead, each bike and rack will also have warnings reminding the rider to use a helmet and to take all safety precautions, and all of the ChargerCycles literature will have a specific focus on the safety issues pertaining to bike use.
ChargerCycles will kick off on Friday, August 23, with an announcement - and free lunch - at the SGA Week of Welcome event at 10am by the University Center.
Chargers, get ready to ride!
