HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Oct. 28, 2013) - Did you know that the Facilities and Operations team at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) has a Green Certification Program? Strictly voluntary, its purpose is to promote energy conservation and reduce waste through recycling.
There are four levels of certification, which are outlined here. Departments must comply with every item on the checklist for the level in which they request certification unless it is not applicable to their operations. And to receive certification, a minimum of 75% of office members, including the program director, must participate.
Currently, over fifteen UAH departments have been certified, more than half of them at the highest level. It's just another way Facilities and Operations is making the UAH campus a little greener.
