Music Technology at UAH

Music Majors
Music majors with an interest in music technology pursue the Bachelor of Arts in Music with an Emphasis in Music Technology, a degree with all of the typical music major requirements, including a primary performance instrument (or voice), ensembles, solo recitals, and music theory and history classes.  Additionally, the Music Technology emphasis includes electrical engineering, computer engineering, and specialized courses in music technology that focus on the many ways that musicians can use computer software and hardware to enhance their musical endeavors.

Engineering and Computer Science Majors
Students majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science may choose to pursue a Minor in Music Technology to prepare for careers in music software and hardware design

Degree Focus
Many universities offer degrees in music technology that are exclusively focused on recording engineering.  This is not the case at UAH, where studies cover a broad range of technology that relates to music:

Courses:

A music major may choose an emphasis in Music Technology.  This program includes a Bachelor of Arts in Music, thirteen credits in computer and electrical engineering, and nine credits in music technology.

As a major in electrical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering, students may receive a minor in Music Technology.
