The UAH 100 Jazz Ensemble will spend Fall Break, 2009, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The trip will include performances in San Juan, as well as ample opportunity to listen to music and enjoy the sand, sun, and surf. This web page will be updated as more details become available.
CostsThis trip will be FREE for ensemble members, except for food and entertainment expenses. Flights, hotel rooms, and all required ground transportation will be paid by funds the jazz ensemble has been saving over recent years.
DepositOnce the university pays for the flights, those tickets cannot be transferred to another person. Consequently, we need to be absolutely certain that the people in the band at the beginning of the semester definitely go on the trip and perform. Students in the UAH 100 Jazz Ensemble must pay a $100 deposit by August 31 (the day before the drop deadline). This deposit will be returned to the student at the airport as the band departs for Puerto Rico, and can be used however the student wishes. Students who do not pay the deposit will need to drop the class so they can be replaced by someone else. Students who pay the deposit but do not go on the trip will forfeit their deposit.
ScheduleThere are no classes on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday (October 8-10). We will miss classes on Monday, October 12. Students are advised to make arrangements with professors during the FIRST WEEK of classes in August. Flight Schedule Thursday, October 8
HotelThe band will stay at the Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde. Students will share double rooms, with separate beds. The hotel has live salsa bands every night we are there.
