The Huntsville Youth Orchestra (HYO) is in its 50th year of providing North Alabama’s finest ensemble experience for young musicians. Please take some time to browse our site and see how we initiate and foster one of life’s happiest combinations: young people and beautiful music. We hope you’ll also find ways that you can share in HYO’s many benefits: as a player, a parent, a concertgoer or a sponsor.

HYO’s mission is to provide a rewarding and challenging experience for its members by means of active participation in the performance of good music. This is accomplished through learning, rehearsing, and giving public performances under the direction of highly qualified, professional conductors (who are also teachers and performing musicians). For each performance, the pieces are carefully selected to challenge and stimulate development of the particular skills of each group of performers.
