Phil Weaver's guitar studies include master classes with Charles Duncan, John Marlow, and Mario Abril and a degree in music from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. A 1988 winner of an Alabama Artists' Fellowship, Mr. Weaver has performed as a solo recitalist in the Southeast and England and he has appeared as soloist with orchestra. He currently teaches guitar at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and Alabama A&M University and is on the roster of New York artists' representative Gina Crusco.Mr. Weaver is also part of the Consonare guitar-piano duo with pianist Ingrid von Spakovsky. This duo has been performing together for over ten years with concerts in the Midwest and Southeast. In the spring of 1993, Consonare performed a series of concerts in England sponsored by the Nonsuch Guitar Society, and they were interviewed live on the BBC. In 1995 they performed concerts in New York, including the Chamber Music Series at Hofstra University on Long Island and St. Paul's Festival of the Arts. A digital recording of Consonare, entitled "Music for Guitar and Piano", is available on the Max-Pei label. |
