Robert Gifford, Flutist, holds a Master of Music Degree from Catholic University and a Bachelor of Music from Cincinnati College-Conservatory. He has studied with well-known artists, Julius Baker, principal flute of the New York Philharmonic, Britton Johnson, principal flute of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, & master classes with James Galway, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Robert Cavally, and Jeanne Baxtresser. From 1980 - 1986 Bob performed as principal flute with the Huntsville Symphony. From 1972 - 1978 he held the position of principal flute and piccolo player with the U. S. Navy Band in Washington D.C. and the Annapolis Symphony. Currently, Bob serves on the board of trustees for the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and teaches at The University of Alabama in Huntsville and Ars Nova Schools of Music. Bob is a member of the Huntsville Music Appreciation Group and a founding member of the Huntsville Flute Club.
