Assistant Professor of Music Michael Conran earned his doctorate in choral conducting with a voice minor at the University of Arizona. While in Tucson Dr. Conran conducted the University's Women's Honor Choir, the University Singers, Kantori, and Recital Chorus and served as assistant director of the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus and conductor-in-residence at one of the city's high schools.

Dr. Conran also holds degrees from New England Conservatory in Boston and San Francisco Conservatory, as well as continuing studies at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. In addition Dr. Conran has served on the New Jersey All-State Governor's Award Judging Committee.

In the field of choral music, he has sung professionally with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, the Tanglewood Festival Chorale, the Carmel Bach Festival Choir, Boston's Banchetto Musicale, and the Philadelphia Singers. He has taught vocal studies at Santa Clara University in California, and choir, band, and general music in high schools and grade schools on both the east and west coasts.

As a tenor soloist he has appeared in a variety of works including Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation, Bach's Magnificat, Rossini's La Cenerentola, and Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio. He has also enjoyed premiering works for tenor throughout the San Francisco Bay area.

Dr. Conran has been a scholarship recipient from the Cleveland Symphony's Blossom Festival, the California Summer Arts Festival, and the University of Arizona's Wolf Choral Scholarship.
