Veneta BillmayerVeneta Billmayer has been associated with the Music department at the University of Huntsville since 1991. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Ms. Billmayer received a Bachelor of Music degree in cello, and a minor in piano. She has studied cello with Margaret Christy, University of Alabama; Theo Salzman, principal cellist of the Pittsburgh Symphony; and with Walter Steinhaus and Donald Shoemaker, both former cellists with the Atlanta Symphony.

Ms. Billmayer has served as principal cellist of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and the University of Alabama Symphony. She was a member of the Marshall University and Huntington, West Virginia chamber orchestras, and has performed with other chamber groups in Colorado, Rhode Island and the Southeast. She also has given live performances on public radio in Macon, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville.

She currently is adjunct professor of cello at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and maintains a private studio of students from all over the north Alabama area. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Music Teacher's National Association and the American String Teacher's Association.
